American Red Cross Lifeguard Training

BL = Blended Learning. Portions of this course will be completed at home on a computer. Other portions of this course will be done during an in-person class session.

This American Red Cross course trains and certifies successful participants in American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED.
The lifeguard certification requires a standard number of hours for classroom, pool, and online training.
Successful completion requires that participants are PRESENT for ALL CLASS sessions; complete ALL online training modules;
attain 80% on the written exam and demonstrate proficiency in all skills.

All Participants must partake in the Prerequisites during the Pre-Course session Wednesday, September 25, 6:30 PM.
Prerequisites for this course are:


A) Students must be 15 years old by the completion of this course.
B) The ability to swim at least 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing using front crawl or breast stroke.
C) The ability to tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs.
D) Successful completion of a timed event in 1 minute, 40 seconds. The timed event requires a participant to:

1) Surface dive, feet-first or head-first, to a depth of 7-10 feet,
2) retrieve a 10-pound object,
3) surface and swim 20 yards on their back with the object (Both hands must remain on the object throughout),
4) exit the water without using the ladder or steps.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a Red Cross certificate
that indicates completion of Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED class and is valid for 2 years.

1) Lifeguarding Manual (Released 2017)

2) Adult/Child CPR Mask - Masks will be available for students to borrow.
If you wish to purchase your own mask, they may be purchased online for approximately $15 through www.redcrossstore.org (Item #329705).

Registration cancellations within 24 hours of the course will be assessed the following fees: $38 Red Cross Fee; $5 administrative fee.
